Past employment experiences range from starting as a Technical Contract Recruiter with a search firm in Ottawa, to HR Generalist with a Crown Corporation to HR Director with a multi-national company.
As an independent consultant since 1994, Jamie has worked with a broad-based group of clients involved in many different sectors throughout British Columbia and across Canada, some recognized for their “best practices”. Clients have included those involved in tourism and hospitality, high technology, pulp and paper, retail, government and other organizations.
Aside from contracted HR management services, she has developed opening HR strategies (recruitment, retention and training) for new business start-up including resourcing plans, organization charts, budgets, job descriptions, recruitment, training plans, policy and program development, orientation, effective leadership programs and service training. She also developed and delivered Organizational Behaviour and other Human Resource Management training courses at Vancouver Community College (VCC).

Training – Development and delivery of over 200 workshops on harassment prevention, diversity, leadership, conflict resolution and customer service. Worked with VCC as an Instructor for HR courses, including Organizational Behaviour.
stars 4 SUCCESS – Lead team consisting of Covenant House, VCC and Vancouver hotels, to develop, implement and manage an innovative street youth employment initiative, recognized by the industry for an “out of the box” tourism employment award.
B.C. Tourism Industry – Participated in the Tourism Industry H.R. Taskforce that identified strategies related to recruitment, training and retention of people in B.C.’s tourism industry, used as a foundation to enhance industry recruitment initiatives.
Greater Vancouver Business Leadership Network (GVBLN) – Original member in the Business Advisory Committee of Canada’s first “Business Leadership Network”, launching an organization that facilitates employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Equity West & BC Employment Equity Practitioner’s Group – Founding member of both organizations, established to provide a network of employers and agencies committed to recruitment of those traditional under-represented in the workplace.
Harassment Prevention – Successfully resolved over 120 workplace harassment and discrimination complaints via investigation, mediation and/or facilitation. Developed and launched a nation-wide 1-800 Human Rights advisory service, endorsed by The Canadian Human Rights Commission.
